Authentication
The different authentication methods to access Kabeen
Kabeen offers two authentication methods to access your workspace. Both options are available from the sign-up page: https://app.kabeen.io/login/signup
Internal Authentication
Internal authentication is the classic method using an email address and password.
To create an account with this method:
- Go to the sign-up page
- Enter your first name, last name, email address, and password
- Complete the captcha and click "Let's go!"
Your account will then be created and you can access your Kabeen workspace.
Microsoft 365 Authentication
Kabeen also allows authentication via the Microsoft 365 identity federation. This authentication is done through the OpenID Connect protocol.
Approval Process
When using Kabeen for the first time to authenticate via Microsoft 365, an approval request will be required.
Important: This approval request needs to be done only once for the entire Microsoft 365 tenant, not for each individual user.
A Microsoft 365 tenant administrator will then receive an approval request:
- By email
- In their Microsoft administration interface
This approval allows the Kabeen application to register in the tenant and authenticate users from your organization.
Email Address Matching
Note: Invitations in Kabeen must be sent to the email address used as the UPN (User Principal Name) by Microsoft. The UPN is the primary identifier used by Microsoft 365 to identify a user.
Authentication Migration
If you want to switch from internal Kabeen authentication to Microsoft 365 authentication, the process is fully automatic.
When a user signs in via Microsoft 365 and the UPN (email address used as Microsoft identifier) matches the email address used as Kabeen identifier, then the authentication migration happens automatically.
No manual action is required: the existing account will be automatically linked to Microsoft 365 authentication.
